Glynn Johnson 90 Series Overhead Door Holders and Stops are the most rugged surface mounted models available for heavy-duty applications. They provide reliable door control with minimal door and frame preparation.
Materials and Finishes: In Brass, Stainless Steel or 300 Stainless Steel these models offer the broadest range of finishes in the industry complementing any design. Available in the following finishes: US3, US4, US10, US10B, US32, US32D, 652, SP4, SP10, SP28, SP313, SPBLK. Stainless Steel models offer the highest resistance to corrosion.
Applications: Can be used in conjunction with most surface applied door closers. Doors positioned on a building's exterior or subject to corrosive conditions should be equipped with a holder constructed primarily of stainless steel or brass materials. For interior applications, steel is acceptable through brass substrates generally provide a more attractive architectural grade finish.
Function: Hold-Open model: Provides a selective hold-open function with easy-to-adjust tension. Simple 90 degree rotation of the roller mechanism disables the Hold-Open function, allowing the unit to serve as a shock-absorbing stop. Hold-Open function provides a convenient method of holding the door open at a predetermined location for short or long periods of time, permitting an unobstructed traffic flow through the opening.
Stop-Only model: Provides a reliable method of door control when the hold-open function is not a requirement. Provides shock-absorbing capability and may be used on fire doors.
Friction Hold-Open model: Can be adjusted through the top of the channel using an Allen wrench. Ideal for patient room doors, wardrobe, closet doors or similar applications where multiple Hold-Open positions are desired.
Angle Jamb Bracket: Available to convert standard models to flush transom mounting. Affixes to standard jamb brackets.
Classification: Stop only models are UL listed as miscellaneous fire door accessories. May be used on hollow metal fire doors or wood fire doors without adversely affecting the fire rating on the fire door and/or fire door frame.
Installation: Product is provided with templates to allow for variable mounting positions, ranging from 85 degrees to 110 degrees hold-open/stop angle. Templates are designed for installation in almost all types of doors. See Installation Tab for complete installation instructions.
Additional Options: Including angle jamb brackets, blade stop shim kits, pin-in-socket security screws and special stop only models can be ordered. Please contact us us or call our office at 845-388-1300.

Friction adjustment (Friction model only): Using a 3/32" hex wrench, turn screw shown clockwise to increase friction and counterclockwise to decrease friction. |
Installation Steps: |
1. Determine what type of hinge or pivot is being used on the door as shown below. 2. Find correct type and size of hinge or pivot on the chart below to identify correct mounting group. 3. Dimensions A, B and C (shown below) will be used to locate holder on door and frame. 4. See attachment to determine mounting group for installation.
5. Mark "B" dimension (from chart) on frame. Note that "B" dimension is measured from centerline of hinge as shown. 6. Cut out "Jamb Bracket Template" from bottom of page and align on frame to locate 4 holes to drill. 7. Locate and mark "A" and "C" dimensions on door. Note that "A" dimension is measured from centerline of hinge as shown. For dead stop add 13/16" (21 mm) to the "A" dimension from the chart. For more information about dead stop, see page 2 under "Notes on using chart". 8. Drill two 3/8" (10mm) diameter through holes per chart and dimensions shown below. Mounting holes should be prepared only after door and frame are installed. 9. Install jamb bracket on the stop (see Screw Chart). 10. Install the channel on the door (see Screw Chart). Shock spring should be located on hinge end of the door. |
