Overview:
- This Heavy Duty Floor closer is recommended for applications where vertical movement of the door at installation is not possible, such as a door inset in a deep reveal or with no ceiling clearance.
- Single Acting
- Handed
- Exterior or Interior Doors
- For doors weighing up to 250 Lbs
- For doors measuring up to 4'0" wide
Shallow Reveal Applications: Closer has tapered spindle and uses a unique bottom arm (not included in this package) to allow door installation.
Options:
-
Handing: Left Handed (LH) or Right Handed (RH). Specify handing. Click here to see How to Determine Door Handing.
-
Dead Stop / Opening Degree: Built-in positive dead stop prevents door from swinging beyond desired opening degree. Four options - 85°, 90°, 95°, 105°.
-
Hold Open: Non-hold open (NHO) or selective hold open (SHO) at the same degree as dead stop. Hold open feature can be turned off.
-
Additional Options Include: Sealed Closer, Physically Handicapped, Delayed Action, Cold Weather Fluid, Fire Rated, Extended Spindles. See Additional Options tab for more information.
Separate and Independent Valves: Three different controllable valves for latch speed, closing speed and back check. Valves easily adjusted.
-
Latch Speed: Controls the last 10° of travel prior to latching. A door's travel speed at this time is critical to overcome weatherstripping, latch bolts and stack pressures.
-
Closing Speed: Controls the door from fully open until 10°. Set this to a speed you feel comfortable with.
-
Back Check: This valve adjusts the amount of hydrautic resistance that begins at about 70° in the opening cycle. Back check should never be turned to a point where it acts as a dead stop for the door.
Fasteners: Wood screws and machine screws. Included.
Priced per package.
Note: All Rixson single acting closers have a preloaded spindle that causes the arm (door) to come to rest beyond the 0° position about 7° in towards the room. This makes sure the latch engages the strike and helps overcome negative building pressures.

SEALED CLOSER (SC) |
|
Sealed Closer is designed for exterior doors or interior doors, with heavy exposure to water or cleaning solvents, protects the body. The closer body is placed in the cement case. A stainless steel cover plate is then gasketed and fastened to the cement case. This must be ordered with closer and cannot be ordered without the cement case. |
|
PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED (PH) |
|
This option is in compliance with guidelines established in the American With Disabilities Act (ADA) and ensures that light opening forces are met. Option of 5 lbs opening force or 8.5 lbs opening force available. Lower opening forces mean lower closing forces. PH products should not be ordered for exterior doors or fire rated openings. Fire or Lifesafety openings take precedence over the convenience of ADA compliance. Securing a building is also a major concern and a lighter closer may not be strong enough to secure a latch bolt in a strike. Note: Rixson will not be responsible if exterior or fire rated doors will not close completely when PH products are supplied. |
|
DELAYED ACTION (DA) |
|
The delayed action feature allows the door to remain ajar (at 70°) for up to 40 seconds. Delayed action is operated by a separate valve and can be shut off if not needed. Note: This option cannot be ordered together with Selective Hold Open feature or Cold Weather Fluid (CWF) and is not recommended for exterior applications because of weather factors. |
|
COLD WEATHER FLUID (CWF) |
|
Cold weather fluid should be considered for installations where the ground temperature is constantly below 15°F. May be used in temperatures as low as -35°F. |
|
EXTENDED SPINDLES |
|
Extended spindles available in 1/2" increments up to 2" longer than standard. |
