This high quality, removable barrier answers pleas from builders and homeowners for help in protecting doors, windows and building contents from water ingress in flood-prone areas. When water from heavy rains accumulates, the Flood Barrier Shield effectively blocks up to three feet or more of flood waters from permeating door openings.

Panel Material: Shield is made of .25" thick marine grade, non-rusting, aluminum shield.

Panel Weight: Approximately 3.2 Lb / square foot

Available Sizes: Heights from 10" - 42" and Widths from 12" - 71" can be purchased through our site. Larger dimensions will need additional supports and can be quoted by contacting us or giving us a call at 845-388-1300.

SealThe key to the shield's impermeability is the use of a high quality closed cell sponge (CCS) neoprene rubber, which ensures a water-tight seal. The rubber lines the aluminum channel brackets and the bottom of the shield. The neoprene also compensates for gaps at the threshold.

InstallationOnce channels are applied, panels are quick and easy to apply with no tools required. Note, When installing, push down on top of plate to ensure compression of rubber strip at the bottom of the plate and tighten screws. Due to the weight of the plates, taller plates may require more than one person to install properly. Barrier has a convenient cut-out grip handle for simple maneuvering and installation.

Mount TypeCan be applied in an Inside Mount or Outside Mount, Select link to view specifications. Select the mounting option required above.

Floor Surface RequirementsUnless installed on smooth, straight surface, we highly recommend installing a saddle on the floor upon which the bottom of the flood shield will seal onto. This includes concrete surfaces as concrete is porous and can allow water to seep in under the seal. We recommend the Z663 Saddle (Pictured in the side profile of the "Product Specs" tab) although any flat utility saddle will get the job done.

Channel InstallationWe recommend using a waterproof silicone sealent like the TruSil 100 to seal the edges of the channels and bottom of threshold when installing.

Compliance Details: This flood barrier complies with FEMA and FIA Guidelines

*A Note about FEMA Certification: FEMA neither certifies products nor sends out individualized approval of products. However, this flood barrier shield does satisfy FEMA Technical Bulletin 3-93 which describes design, construction, planning, and certification requirements for the flood proofing of non-residential buildings under NFIP regulations. TM's Flood Barrier Shield for doors has been engineered to far exceed FEMA's definition of flood proofing. As a company we can provide you with a letter stating that our product does meet the minimum standards set be forth by FEMA and the U.S Army Corps of Engineers, however a letter from those specific companies does not exist to our knowledge.

Grip Handles: Grip handles are applied to allow for easy installation. Note, the grip handles are positioned within 1" above the ordered height. Ex, if a 20" height barrier was ordered,  you will receive a 21" barrier with handles.

Comments about Door Flood Barrier / Shield:
Great barrier for floods, my only pet peeve is that it takes too long to put it in with the removable model. By the time you put door and all screws in it takes about 10 mins or so and with flash floods last time water was about an inch high by the time i finished last screw. But overall high quality product and if installed stationary i bet it will exceed all your expectations

Comments about Door Flood Barrier / Shield:
These barriers were very simple to use and provide an additional 10 inches of flood protection for our Chicago Condo Association that has unfortunately had issues in the past. They're a very solid product and I would recommend them to anyone in need of some additional flood protection in entryways.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Door Flood Barrier / Shield:
We specified the Zero Int'l flood barriers in 2007, for our new theater in Brattleboro, Vt. In 2011 hurricane Irene hit Brattleboro and sent a river of water down the Street fronting the theater. NEYT was the only downtown building on that street which was NOT flooded, thanks to the effectiveness of those barriers! Needless to say, we are big fans of the product. We have recently built an addition to the theater and want to add flood barriers for two doors.
