Sound Control System for Communicating (Adjoining) Doors

This system is designed to create a Sound Control on a pair of Communicating (Internally Adjoining) Doors. Since a high sound control is vital for communicating doors, this system is specifically comprised of products that reduce sound transfer. The system combines a High Sound Automatic Door Bottom with a Double Neoprene Seal, a Basic Door Gasket with Enhanced Neoprene Seal, a Metal Cushion Weatherstrip, a Mortised Door Bottom with Pile Insert, and a Metal Carpet Divider.

High Sound Automatic Door Bottom with Double Neoprene Seal (Z367): This heavy duty automatic door bottom provides the most sound control from all our best-selling door bottoms. It is fitted with a double neoprene seal which is automatically lowered when the door is closed. This door bottom is designed with a high quality mechanism which prevents drag and will last through many usages. The door bottom can be applied over carpet without causing damage to the floor surface since the seal is raised when the door is open, however, it is recommended that the seal rest above a metal strip, such as threshold or carpet divider.

Mortised Door Bottom with Pile Seal (Z254): This door bottom is mortised into the door to maintain the clean look of the door. It is fitted with a pile brush seal which will gently fill door-to-floor gaps and prevent extraneous transfer between rooms. The soft brush will not damage or scratch the floor surface below.

Basic Door Gasket with Neoprene Seal (Z475): This door gasket is applied along the stop between the two doors. The enhanced neoprene seal is compressed when the door is closed to create an airtight seal and prevent penetration of sound, smoke, fire, dust, drafts..etc. The seal has an extruded bulb and finger design which compensates for any misalignment of the door or gasket installation and will ensures a tight seal, even with some surface irregularities.

Metal Cushion Weatherstrip (Z119W): This weatherstrip is applied along the top of the door, opposite the door gasket. To achieve best results, it is best to combine gaskets of different materials. This weatherstrip is slightly compressed when the door is closed to create a seal that will compensate for any areas left uncovered by the neoprene gasket.

Aluminum Carpet Divider (Z1684): This carpet divider is essential to finish off the door system. The seal of both door bottoms rest on the carpet divider to ensure a tight seal. It also creates a break between the two rooms which reduces sound transfer. The divider has a sleek design which will add to the two rooms aesthetically and create a smooth transition.
