Zero #670 Cover Plate System for Expansion Joint, Flush- Mounted

This custom-width, flush-mounted, expansion joint cover plate system is comprised of one or two aluminum plates, and one neoprene plate that sits flush with the adjacent floor surfaces (see detailed images above). The second aluminum plate is needed if the required width is greater than 4.00” (see How To Order below). 

Expansion joints are the gaps left between two flooring areas to prevent warping of floor materials resulting from the expansion and shrinkage of certain types of flooring due to seasonal temperature changes. When plates are placed between the end of one floor surface and the beginning of the next, the yielding neoprene plate supplies the flexibility needed to allow for possible floor changes, unlike a solid metal plate.

(Optional) Adjustable Threshold Plate- Available in widths of 2”, 3”, 4”, 5”, 6”, 8”, 10” - Z6700

Dimensions: The basic Neoprene plate measures 1" wide and the basic aluminum plate measures 3" wide, totaling 4.00” in width. Plates measure .250” in height (see individual product specs). A second plate is available in many width sizes (2”, 3”, 4”, 5”, 6”, 8”, 10) to accommodate thresholds of greater widths (see individual product specs).

Aluminum Plate Features: The sturdy aluminum plate is grooved to prevent slipping. Available in aluminum mill finish.

Neoprene Plate Features: Made of high quality neoprene, and is also grooved to prevent slipping. Neoprene exhibits a range of useful properties, including good resistance to water, cold, heat, and tolerance for moderate chemicals, acids, oils, and solvents.   This plate can also serve as a thermal break between two metal plates. 

Dimensions of Recessed Area: This cover plate system is designed be applied flush with the floor, requiring a recessed area measuring .250” deep. A bed plate can be placed beneath the plates for added height (see product specs).

Additional Options: For additional traction safety, epoxy abrasives can be bonded to the plate grooves.  

How to order: Measure the total width of the recessed area you would like to cover (see product specs). For an area greater in width than 4.00”, a second aluminum plate is needed. Determine the size of the second plate as follows:

Subtract 4.00” (the combined widths of the basic 3" aluminum and 1" neoprene plates) from the total recessed area width. Choose that final amount from the “Plate Width” drop- down box directly below.

Note, to ensure proper support when placing plates above an expansion joint, the 1.00" expansion joint gap must lie in the center of an aluminum plate with a minimum 3" width.
