This aluminum and rubber bulb door seal is surface mounted the faces of a pair of double doors. It can also be used as a door gasket to seal the perimeter of the door. Closing the gap between and around doors reduces energy waste and halts the passage of drafts, dirt, insects, light, and sound past your doors.
Design: The aluminum housing has a concealed screw compartment, which can help maintain the aesthetic, neat appearance of the doorway.
Dimensions: The aluminum housing measures .75” and the rubber seal extends .1875” (see product specs). Meeting Stile/ Door Gasket has a total width of .9375”. Casing is raised from the door by .375”.
Ratings: The Silicone and PemkoPrene seal is fire and smoke rated. The Eco- V seal is fire rated. Door seals with a fire rating may be mounted on pairs of doors that have a gap that meets the requirements of NFPA 80, 2-5.4.
Seal Options: This model is available with Silicone, Eco-V (Vinyl) or PemkoPrene™ inserts. Silicone has inherent resistance to harsh environments, is generally nonreactive, stable, and resistant to extreme environments and temperatures. Eco-V™ is comparable to vinyl, though it is a newer, greener and more environmentally friendly version and surpasses the quality and durability of standard vinyl. PemkoPrene™ is a thermo-plastic elastomer which stays flexible in temperatures between -70º and +250ºF, making it ideal for exterior doors and ensures a longer-lasting product than its vinyl counterpart. Silicone Rubber: A family of high performance synthetic materials, part mineral and part organic, also known as polysilixane. In the manufacturing process, extrusions may be either solid or foamed with an integral protective skin. This material is capable of being formulated into a wide variety of compounds in varying hardnesses with inherent resistance to harsh environments. Silicone rubber is generally nonreactive, stable, and resistant to extreme environments and temperatures. It does not become brittle and hard in the cold or very soft in the heat. This material has excellent resistance to sunlight, weather, ozone, oxidization, and water and to flame.
PemkoPrene™ (Thermo-Plastic Elastome -TPE, Thermo-Plastic Rubber-TPR): A common trade name for PemkoPrene is “SantoPrene”. This material possesses the same flexibility and durability common to natural rubber compounds. Additionally, PEMKO has selected these materials because of their outstanding resistance to cleaning fluids and disinfectants as well as for their everyday resilience and low impedance to opening or closing requirements on door assemblies.
Eco-V™(Vinyl): This rubber is comparable to PVC Vinyl (listed in chart below). However, Eco-V is newer, greener and more environmentally friendly version of PVC Vinyl. It has been tested for a number of harmful chemicals and has low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) Emissions, to ensure they are safe for indoor environments, especially schools and healthcare facilities. Eco-V complies with UL Listed Green Guard requirements and aids in achieving or exceeding criteria in green building ratings programs, such as LEED and Collaborative High Performance Schools (CHPS). Additionally, Eco-V surpasses the quality and durability of traditional vinyl gasketing, resulting in a longer service life and less need for replacement.
