This model is a heavy duty deadlatch for aluminum swinging doors. The lock provides flexibility of traffic control and easy installation, and allows for two way traffic for applications which require free entrance at certain times and exit only at other times. The product includes the lock body only; cylinder and/or thumbturn need to be purchased separately. Available in many options, choose from the dropdowns below.

    This heavy duty deadlatch is for aluminum swinging doors.

    Please note: Turn, cylinder and/or thumbturn are not included with this product and are available for purchase separately.

    Cylinder Backset: Distance from the edge of the lock to the center of the cylinder hole.

    This deadlatch comes in a choice of three backsets:

    • 31/32" (24.6 mm) backset

    Length of case (A) = 1-19/32" (40.5 mm)

    • 1-1/8" (28.6 mm) backset

    Length of case (A) = 1-49/64" (44.8)

    • 1-1/2" (38.1 mm) backset

    Length of case (A) = 2-9/64" (54.4 mm)

    Latch Bolt: Top bolt that is easily reversible without special tools.

    Auxiliary Bolt: Bottom bolt that deadlocks the latchbolt to prevent "loiding" or case-knife entry.

    Strike: This deadlatch comes in a choice of strikes:

    • 4901 Mortised Strike: 4-5/8" - for retrofit installations
    • 4902 Mortised Strike: 2-5/8"

    Strikes are available for flat jambs where door closes flush, and radius profile for opposite stile in paired doors. Long lip strikes are also available for center hung doors.

    Operation: Turn the key or operate the handle/paddle to retract the spring-loaded latchbolt. To holdback the bolt and allow the door to be free swinging, fully retract the bolt and secure by the reverse turn of the key.

    Lock Design: The lock accepts any standard mortise cylinder with 1" (25.4 mm) length, 1-5/32" (29.4 mm) diameter and MS® cam, available separately. The lock accepts a cylinder from either or both sides.

    Compatibility: 

    • Interchangeable without stile modification with any MS1850S Deadlock of the same backset and faceplate shape. 
    • Retrofits to existing 4510 Deadlatch and discontinued 4700 Deadlatch preparations.
