When an alarm occurs, the Securitron Fire Alert Reset Control communicates with a fire alarm unit to cut off power to devices downstream of the power supply. Until the FAR's Keyswitch is manually reset, the power remains off. Some jurisdictions mandate this function to keep people from inadvertently re-arming doors until the fire alarm is reset and the access control system's power is restored during an ongoing emergency.
