How It Works

The Automatic Door Bottom utilizes a concealed flat spring mechanism which is activated upon opening and closing of the door. A brass plunger is compressed when the door is closed to automatically drop the seal, starting from the hinge side first. The seal is raised when the door opens. This motion ensures a smooth drop without a drag, even on an uneven surface. It is compatible with a door saddle or against the floor. The door bottom is built from durable materials that are meant to last. It has been tested through 5 million cycles!

Installation Guide

Click here for a Printable Copy of How to Install a Mortised Automatic Door Bottom.

Automatic Door Bottoms are available with three mounting options: Surface Mounted, Semi-Mortised and Fully Mortised. A surface mounted application can be applied without removing the door from its hinges. For a semi-mortised, if the rabbet in the door is cut-out already, the door does not need to be removed. For a fully mortised application the door should be removed before starting.

STEP 1: PREPARE YOUR DOOR BOTTOM

How to Install a Mortised Automatic Door Bottom - Preparing Your Door Bottom

Remove door and cut mortise in bottom of door as per the dimensions of the provided product specs.

NOTE: If a door is fire labeled or of special construction, mortise preparation must be done by the door manufacturer.

STEP 2: MEASURE AND TRIM YOUR DOOR BOTTOM

How to Install a Mortised Automatic Door Bottom - Measure Your Door

Measure your door from side to side. That will determine the length required for your Door Bottom.

How to Install a Mortised Automatic Door Bottom - Trim Your Door Bottom

Once you have you determine the size needed, if necessary, trim your door bottom. Use a chop saw or table saw to create a perfectly straight cut.

Note, Only trim opposite the actuating plunger, brass nut. (Trimming from the brass nut side will ruin your ADB). You can trim from the edge up to one inch of the screw on the side wall of the ADB.

STEP 3: APPLY YOUR AUTOMATIC DOOR BOTTOM

How to Install a Mortised Automatic Door Bottom - Apply Your Automatic Door Bottom

With door removed from opening, install the door bottom with plunger at the hinge side, fasten with screws provided and install door in opening.

Comments about Zero #364, Automatic Door Bottom, Mortised, Heavy Duty with Neoprene Bulb Seal, 1" Drop:
We waited weeks for delivery because the company kept telling us it had shipped when it had not. After a cumbersome and time consuming installation, the sweep only fully deploys intermittently. Typically 50% drops into place as expected . We are very disappointed and still in need of a smooth reliable and well functioning sweep.

Comments about Zero #364, Automatic Door Bottom, Mortised, Heavy Duty with Neoprene Bulb Seal, 1" Drop:
This is a pretty cool product . It was easy to install. It took me about 3 hours to complete , most of that time was making the mortise pocket. Now I have a good seal on the bottom of my door . The price was a bit much , but if it last then it will be worth it .
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
