This model is an ANSI size, heavy duty deadlatch for wood or hollow metal swinging doors. The lock provides flexibility of traffic control and easy installation, and allows for two-way traffic for applications which require free entrance at certain times and exit-only at other times. The product includes the lock body only; cylinder and/or thumbturn need to be purchased separately. Available in many options, choose from the dropdowns below.

    This ANSI size, heavy duty deadlatch is for wood and hollow metal swinging doors.

    Please note: Turn, cylinder and/or thumbturn are not included with this product and are available for purchase separately.

    Cylinder Backset: Distance from the edge of the lock to the center of the cylinder hole.

    This deadlatch comes in a choice of two backsets:

    • 1-1/2" (38.1 mm) backset

    Length of case (A) = 2-9/64" (54.4 mm)

    • 2-3/4" (69.9 mm) backset

    Length of case (A) = 3-25/64" (86.1 mm)

    Latch Bolt: Top bolt that is easily reversible without special tools.

    Auxiliary Bolt: Bottom bolt that deadlocks the latchbolt to prevent "loiding" or case-knife entry.

    Strike: 4506 Strike is a stainless steel strike with a satin finish (630) and is furnished to ANSI preparation specifications for flat jambs. The deadlatch is also available without a strike.

    Certification: This deadlatch is prepared for hardware according to American National Standards Institute (ANSI) specifications.

    Operation: Turn the key or operate the handle/paddle to retract the spring-loaded latchbolt. To holdback the bolt and allow the door to be free swinging, fully retract the bolt and secure by the reverse turn of the key.

    Lock Design: The lock accepts any standard mortise cylinder with 1" (25.4 mm) length, 1-5/32" (29.4 mm) diameter and MS® cam, available separately. The lock accepts a cylinder from either or both sides.

    Compatible Cylinders:

    Compatibility: 

    • Interchangeable without stile modification with any MS1850SN Deadlock of same backset and faceplate shape. 
    • Retrofits to existing 4520 Deadlatch and discontinued 4720 ANSI Deadlatch preparations.
