This decorative surface-mounted Automatic Door Bottom lowers a rubber seal when the door is closed for light and sound reduction as well as smoke and fire protection. Sponge EPDM insert is available, in either 36" or 48" in length. Aesthetic casing is available in Clear Anodized Aluminum or Dark Bronze Anodized Aluminum finish.

    Seals: Sponge EPDM

    • EPDM is comparable to Sponge Neoprene, though has significantly better performance and is more environmentally friendly! It has great sound control properties and is resistant to solvents.

    Insert Replacement: This seal is designed to last through much usage, however, if necessary a replacement seal can be purchased - see our Sponge Rubber Replacement for Pemko #412

    Handing: This is supplied for Left Handed Doors. Handing can be reversed in the field, see installation guide. See How to Determine Handing / Swing of Door.

    Installation: Installation instructions, screws and end plate included. Screws are colored to coordinate with casing.

    How It Works

    The high quality automatic mechanism consists of an aluminum case which surrounds a moveable drop-bar seal. The drop-bar seal is actuated by a plunger which contacts the door jamb as the door is closing, forcing the drop-bar seal down against the floor / threshold. The plunger requires low "Feather Touch" closing force to actuate the drop-bar seal. The plunger causes the seal to always actuate on the hinge side first, which prevents the seal from skidding along the floor/threshold while the door is being closed. Door hang-up will not occur!
